Welcome to Dishingly! 🍽️
Hi, I’m Emily Watson, and I’m thrilled you’ve found your way to Dishingly! I’ve always believed that the best recipes do more than fill plates—they spark connection, celebrate creativity, and turn everyday meals into moments you’ll remember. As the creator behind Dishingly, my passion for home-cooked food and food storytelling is at the very heart of this blog.
Over the years, I’ve been lucky enough to have my recipes featured in publications like Modern Home Chef and Family Table, and I’ve even placed as a finalist in the Midwest Home Cooking Championships. My kitchen adventures have led me to collaborate with other talented food bloggers and partner with local farms on sustainable cooking workshops. These experiences have shaped my approach to recipes, blending traditional comfort with a spirit of discovery.
Through all my culinary journeys, what’s resonated most is how food brings people together—no matter where you come from or what’s on your table. Every time I create and share a new recipe, I’m reminded that food is a universal language, a way to show love and hospitality. I’m still learning every day and feel deeply grateful for the readers and cooks who share this love for homemade food with me. Being part of your kitchen adventures is the most rewarding part of this work.

How It All Started
My story begins in a sunlit kitchen, perched on a stool next to my grandmother, who showed me the magic of turning simple ingredients into something memorable. I still remember the aroma of cinnamon rolls rising on Saturday mornings and the laughter that always seemed to echo around our table. Those early moments taught me that recipes are more than instructions—they’re invitations to make memories.
As I grew older, my curiosity about food only intensified. I found myself scribbling notes in cookbooks, experimenting with flavors, and (yes) making plenty of mistakes along the way! The sense of satisfaction I got from perfecting a new dish, and the joy of sharing it with friends, made me realize how much I wanted to document my kitchen adventures. I wanted a space where I could share not only my favorite recipes but also the stories and lessons behind them.
Dishingly was born from that dream—a place where every recipe comes with a story, a tip, or a spark of inspiration. For me, sharing recipes is a way to connect, teach, and inspire others to create moments of their own. Whether you’re cooking for one or for a crowd, I hope you’ll find something here that makes you excited to get into the kitchen.
Why You Can Trust Me
With over 12 years of hands-on cooking experience, I bring a blend of homegrown knowledge and formal training to every recipe I share on Dishingly. From cozy breakfasts to show-stopping desserts, I’ve cooked for family reunions, holiday gatherings, and even a few pop-up dinner parties in my community. My approach is rooted in authenticity—every recipe is developed, tested, and refined right in my home kitchen.
I’m committed to quality and transparency. Each dish you see here goes through a careful process: I research ingredients, test multiple variations, and don’t settle until I’m genuinely excited to share the results. I know how frustrating it is when a recipe doesn’t turn out as expected, so I include step-by-step instructions, substitution tips, and clear visuals to help you succeed every time.
My photography style is simple and honest—what you see is what you get. I use natural light and minimal styling so that the food speaks for itself. I want you to feel confident that you can recreate these dishes at home, whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned cook.
Outside of Dishingly, you’ll find me exploring local farmers’ markets, attending cooking workshops, or traveling in search of new flavors and traditions. I’m a lifelong learner, always looking for ways to expand my knowledge, whether it’s mastering a new technique or discovering a forgotten family recipe.
My goal is to make Dishingly a trusted resource for home cooks who crave delicious results without the fuss. I genuinely care about the community we’re building here—thank you for trusting me to be a part of your cooking journey!
